How many deck tiles do I need?
Each tile is 24 inches by 24 inches and covers 4 square feet, so divide your total area in square feet by four. A 200 square foot patio needs 50 tiles. Our tile estimator does the math for you and adds a waste buffer for cuts and irregular edges.
How many pedestals do I need per tile?
Pedestal count depends on your layout and perimeter, not square footage alone. Tiles share pedestals at their corners across the open field, but edges and corners need extra support, so a long narrow area uses more pedestals than a square one of the same size. Because our tiles are 24 inches square, they sit on a simple 24 inch grid. Our estimator calculates a count for your area and includes a 10 percent buffer for installation.
Can deck tiles be installed on a rooftop?
Yes. The tiles float on top of the roof membrane rather than fastening to the building, so nothing penetrates the waterproofing. Water continues to drain underneath to your existing roof drains, and any tile can be lifted out for roof inspection or access. Confirm your building's load allowance and drainage path before installing, and check whether your building or HOA requires approval.
Can I install deck tiles over concrete?
Yes, and it is the most common use. A clean, solid concrete patio or balcony floor needs no preparation at all. If the concrete is cracked, sloped, or uneven, add adjustable pedestals to create a level plane without pouring or grinding anything.
Do I need tools or a contractor?
No. The tiles use a precision tab and snap system, so they lock together by hand with no screws, nails, or adhesive. Most residential areas are finished in a single afternoon by one or two people, and no permits are required because nothing is permanently attached to the structure.
Can the tiles be removed if I move or rent?

What is Kempas hardwood?
Kempas is a dense tropical hardwood from Southeast Asia used for decking, flooring, and outdoor furniture. The heartwood runs orange-red to reddish-brown and darkens with age. It is naturally dense and weather resistant, which is why it outlasts composite alternatives outdoors while costing less than premium species like ipe.
Does water drain through the tiles?
Yes. Water passes between the slats and drains freely beneath the tiles to your existing drainage, so puddles do not sit on the surface and the substrate below stays ventilated. This is why the system works on rooftops and balconies where drainage cannot be blocked.
